UŠĆE Tower Two and BEO Shopping centre win two CIJ Serbia Awards each
Two developments designed by Chapman Taylor for our client MPC Properties in Belgrade have won two awards each at the 2020 CIJ Serbia Awards.
UŠĆE Tower Two was named “Best Office Development” and “Best Leading Green Building Development”, while BEO Shopping Centre won in the “Best Retail Development” and “Best New Tenant” (Peek & Cloppenburg) categories.
UŠĆE Tower Two provides 23,000m2 of Class A office space in a key position within the city, located close to the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. The development is set within a landscaped park and is easily accessed by car, bicycle or public transport. The tower is designed to complement the existing UŠĆE Tower, dating from the late 1960s, and offers high-quality office accommodation for innovative businesses in a sustainability-led, landmark development.
The double-height foyer delivers a striking entrance experience, with naturally lit lift lobbies and external balconies on each office floor offering beautiful views over the city centre to the east and the Danube and Sava rivers. A landscaped roof terrace creates a stunning F&B destination for office users and for special events.
The scheme is targeting BREEAM Excellent certification for sustainability and a number of strategies have been developed to achieve an energy-efficient and sustainable design focusing on the wellbeing of the building’s occupants. Measures are used to reduce solar gains, individual ventilation and heating control and metering of up to four tenanted zones per floor, a façade-integrated natural ventilation system throughout the office levels and the maximum use of daylight.
The project was won in an architectural competition in 2015, with Chapman Taylor's Milan and Prague studios collaborating with our client, MPC Properties, on the design. Chapman Taylor worked closely with Buro Happold and the local engineering teams to develop a tightly integrated architectural and engineering concept on behalf of our client MPC Properties.
The 43,000m² GLA BEO Shopping Centre development offers over 150 well-known regional and international brands as well as a hypermarket, a multiplex cinema and a large selection of restaurants and cafés, all served by a 1,200-space underground car park.
The innovative architectural concept for the three-floor centre is characterised by greenery, open and airy spaces and abundant natural light. Its location, at the corner of Vojislav Ilić and Mis Irbijeve streets, allows BEO shopping centre to cater for a number of large residential areas including Konjarnik, Dušanovac and Šumica. The site was formerly used by a mechanical engineering factory.
Chapman Taylor’s Düsseldorf studio created the Concept and Scheme Designs for the project on behalf of MPC Properties and Atterbury Europe, while our Madrid studio created key elements of the interior design.
Congratulations to MPC Properties on these well-deserved award wins and also to Confluence Property Management, operators of UŠĆE Tower Two, on winning “Best Property Management Company” at the awards.
