UK: BCSC Gold Award 2014 site visits start
The annual BCSC (British Council for Shopping Centres) Gold Award 2014 site visits have started in earnest. Each year, the Gold Awards provide the UK's outstanding retail developments and retail destinations the opportunity to celebrate their brilliant work.
Chapman Taylor’s Director Adrian Griffiths is a member of this year’s judging panel. Urban design and masterplanning expert, Adrian, is recognised internationally for his expertise in the blending of architecture and urban design together. He is a LLP Board Director and member of the International Management Board at Chapman Taylor, who are a world-leader in the design of retail and large scale mixed-use architectural developments. With over 25 years of international experience of making towns and cities successful and unique, he has designed many landmark projects, both in the UK and internationally*.
There are five BCSC Gold awards being judged: New Centre; Refurbishment and/or Extension (over £5million); Refurbishment and/or Extension (under £5million); Catering and Leisure Destination; and Sustainability.
BCSC Gold Award visits usually last for between 2 and 3 hours, consisting of a presentation from the Centre team and questions from the judging jury.
Last year, the BCSC 2013 Gold Award Dinner was attended by over 1,000 attendees and was hosted by UK comedian Miranda Hart. Chapman Taylor’s scheme ‘Trinity Leeds’ was awarded the Gold Award in the ‘New Centre’ category.
Now running for over 30 years, the winners of the BCSC Gold Awards 2014 will be announced and presentations made at the BCSC Annual Dinner on Wednesday 3 December 2014 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
