Retail: Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for Huma Vienna Takes Place

On 17 January, a foundation stone laying ceremony took place on the site of Chapman Taylor’s new shopping centre in Vienna, “Huma”.

Over a hundred guests were present, including the Mayor of Vienna, Dr. Michael Häupl. Chapman Taylor were represented by Director-in-Charge Ruprecht Melder, Jens Siegfried and Andrew Mackay.

Construction of the first phase started in December 2015, and despite the winter is progressing rapidly.

Owned by the Jost Hurler Unternehmensgruppe and operated by SES Spar European Shopping Centers, Huma offers a Gross Leasable Area of 50,000m2 spread out over 2 retail levels, and will house 90 retail and food outlets, providing 800 hundred new jobs for the area.

The new Huma shopping centre, which replaces the original 1970s centre, will open in 2016 and will be extended immediately by a 2nd phase.
