Women in Property tour of Hayes Village, London
On Friday the 19th of January, our client Barratts London and Chapman Taylor Director Rachel Rogerson took a group of xx Women in Property delegates around our project Hayes Village in London.
This is a unique regeneration project that will deliver 1,386 new homes on the site of the former Nestle factory in Hayes. The site has been closed to the public for over 100 years, and Barratt London together with property investment company SEGRO are working to deliver an exemplary urban renewal project that celebrates the site’s heritage.
The event included a guided tour around the site of Block B (the most recent phase under construction) and included an onsite talk from Barratts London and Rachel on delivering the scheme.
Anna Nasalska, Senior Technical Manager, Barratt West London: "We are proud to deliver homes and public spaces that benefit residents and local community. Barratt Developments took an unprecedented opportunity to bring this area back to full use linking residential property and spaces that benefit residents and wider public. Hayes Village offers both a fascinating history and fantastic facilities for residents, especially the provision for open spaces, new portion of Grand Union Canal path, play areas, community facilities and public transport with the Elizabeth Line less than a 10-minute walk away. Visits like this help professionals that have no access to construction site to refresh their understanding of modern construction and best practices implemented on site."
Jason White, Project Manager, Barratt West London: "It was a real pleasure to welcome Women in Property to our Hayes Village development. I was proud be a part of the site visit to showcase the passion of our team in delivering quality homes, with real focus on creating a community for our customers. I found the day was filled with positive energy!"
Marta Kuriata, Senior Sales Adviser, Barratt West London: Hayes Village is an outstanding development providing heritage, desirable space, greenery, and exceptional connectivity to London, the UK and the world. In addition to the world class transport links residents are part of an extremely diverse newly formed community which respects differences and allows people to be themselves without fear. Giving the marvellous opportunity to be your best. It is a privilege to be able to offer this community to clients and to see how both residents and potential purchasers develop a love for this highly desirable and rarely available way of life. In today’s world diversity and inclusion are the areas that we all want to become normal. Being a woman in a male dominated environment can be challenging at times. However, seeing and feeling the changes in society reflected within the organisation provides reassurance that equality is a genuine organisational priority. It has been empowering to be hosting WIP on our development and I look forward to more events of this kind in our Hayes Village community.
Rachel Rogerson, Chapman Taylor Architects: "The former Nestle site is a sensitive redevelopment of an existing brownfield site to provide much needed housing to central London. The site includes a mix of affordable housing and private for sale, with options of 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom homes. A sensitive approach has been taken to the retention of existing facades where possible along with several new build mixed tenure blocks around elevated landscaped podiums of residents’ exclusive amenity use. The site is also extensively landscaped to create a vibrant new community for all, with good transport links to the city centre. Chapman Taylor joined the Barratt West London team in 2021 as Executive Architect to deliver the scheme. It was great to showcase the hard work the team are doing on the Former Nestle site and to delve into the detail of the design delivery process with the visiting delegates from Women in Property. Effective collaboration and teamwork are vital on all projects to ensure success. We look forward to continuing the positive team approach on Blocks B and C of the Former Nestle factory to deliver the project to completion with the Barratts team."
Emily Gascoyne-Richards, Women in Property: "Women in Property was formed in 1987 when two professional women working in the property sector agreed that something needed to be done to improve networking and support for the industry’s women. Nearly 37 years on we know there is still a role for the organisation, as we continue to promote diversity and inclusion across the industry. While networking and personal development remain a fundamental focus, we also champion girls and young women considering a career in property, those seeking support throughout their careers and those wishing to elevate their career path into the Board room and beyond. Women in Property is unique because our members represent all disciplines, across the built environment."
