Workplace: Stone laying ceremony at brand new Science and Technology Park in Italy
On Friday October 2nd, the Chapman Taylor Milan project, NOI Technology Park saw the first stone laid at a prestigious ceremony in via Volta in South Bolzano.
The project is currently onsite and when completed will be occupied by a range of innovative companies and research organisations. The new contemporary design will see the refurbishment of two existing buildings and the construction of a new one, ‘the black monolith’ that will create an ‘architectural bridge’ between the existing and older structures, which were once parts of an aluminium factory that was built in the Bauhaus style, and is subject to protection orders.
The president of the province Arno Kompatscher commented that the project will represent the engine for innovation, research, training and economic development for the entire South Tyrol area, underlining that the technology park will be the place where companies, universities and research centres will interact and come together.
Subsequently, the Director of BLS (Business Location Sudtirol, the Client) briefly explained the history of the former Alumix area and introduced Chapman Taylor Director, Gianfranco Lizzul and Architect Josef March, who presented the Technology Park Project to 80 representatives from business and public authorities who were present at the event.
The project is due to complete in 2017.
